The new president of the national airline "airBaltic" must be found during the next few weeks, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity) said in an interview with Latvian Radio today.
Dombrovskis believes that the airline's new president could be found during this period with the help of employment agencies. The airline's new president must have international experience and reputation. He will have two months to draft a plan on restoring the airline's profitability. |
The state, as major shareholder in troubled "airBaltic", is seriously considering establishing a new airline, therefore talks with potential investors are already taking place, as financial consultant "Prudentia" CEO Karlis Krastins revealed today, informs LETA.
Krastins could not say how much money will be required, but pointed out that the government right now is in a situation where it has to cover "airBaltic's" former and existing losses, and moreover it has to deal with the management "spider web" set up by Bertolt Flick. Besides, it is more than likely that the airline's other shareholder - "Baltijas aviacijas sistemas", has zero resources and cannot invest in "airBaltic's" share capital. Therefore, a new airline is a logical solution. |
